Aniline Market Size in MENA

After three years of growth, the MENA's aniline market decreased by -13.2% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate strong growth. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

Aniline Production in MENA

In value terms, aniline production declined to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production saw a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 839% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in MENA

In 2021, overseas shipments of aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, exports showed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 998% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aniline exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 764% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the one major exporters of aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives), namely the United Arab Emirates, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) exports, with a CAGR of +67.0% from 2012 to 2021. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+96 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) also remains the largest aniline supplier in MENA.

In the United Arab Emirates, aniline exports expanded at an average annual rate of +51.5% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 82% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 100%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.

From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United Arab Emirates amounted to -9.3% per year.

Aniline Imports

Imports in MENA

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) decreased by -46.1% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 499%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, aniline imports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 415%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then plummeted in the following year.

Imports by Country

Israel prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 91% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) - together made up 7% of total imports.

Israel was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) imports, with a CAGR of +58.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Egypt (+36.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-14.9%) and Turkey (-15.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Israel (+86 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Turkey (-29.4 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-43.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Israel ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aniline and its salts (excluding derivatives) in MENA, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 4.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 4.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Israel amounted to +50.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-11.6% per year) and Turkey (-11.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 44% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+5.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
