In value terms, apple juice exports reduced rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the main exporter of apple juice (single strength), achieving 64% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 28% share of total exports. The following exporters - Kuwait (X tons) and Israel (X tons) - together made up 4.9% of total exports.
Exports from Turkey decreased at an average annual rate of -2.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+11.6%) and Saudi Arabia (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +11.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Israel (-1.5%) and Kuwait (-13.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+10 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (+6.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Kuwait (-7.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest apple juice supplier in MENA, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 12% share.
In Turkey, apple juice exports contracted by an average annual rate of -4.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+17.4% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+2.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, waning by -20% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a slight downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+10.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA
In 2021, overseas purchases of apple juice (single strength) increased by 25% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 154% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, apple juice imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 163%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X tons) represented the key importer of apple juice (single strength), achieving 48% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Israel (X tons), Libya (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons), together creating a 37% share of total imports. Jordan (X tons), Oman (X tons), Iraq (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to apple juice imports into Saudi Arabia stood at +16.1%. At the same time, Bahrain (+28.3%), Israel (+28.1%), Oman (+26.7%), the United Arab Emirates (+16.3%) and Libya (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bahrain emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +28.3% from 2012-2021. Jordan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Iraq (-1.7%) and Kuwait (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Saudi Arabia (+16 p.p.), Israel (+5.7 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+5 p.p.), Bahrain (+4.4 p.p.) and Oman (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Iraq (-4.2 p.p.), Jordan (-4.8 p.p.), Kuwait (-5 p.p.) and Libya (-8.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported apple juice (single strength) in MENA, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Bahrain, with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Saudi Arabia amounted to +15.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+14.4% per year) and Bahrain (+32.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 4.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while Jordan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
