In 2022, Egypt (X tons) represented the largest exporter of blood-grouping reagents, creating 43% of total exports. Turkey (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Israel (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 56% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Egypt, with a CAGR of +59.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -16.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 130%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+52.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
In 2022, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of blood-grouping reagents, when their volume increased by 10% to X tons. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 57% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, blood-grouping reagents imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Saudi Arabia represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at 43% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Israel (X tons), together mixing up a 40% share of total imports. The following importers - Morocco (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - together made up 5.9% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to blood-grouping reagents imports into Saudi Arabia stood at -13.5%. At the same time, Kuwait (+25.7%), Morocco (+13.6%), Oman (+7.5%), the United Arab Emirates (+6.5%) and Israel (+5.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +25.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Turkey (-2.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Kuwait, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Morocco and Oman increased by +11, +8.3, +3.8, +3.6, +3 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported blood-grouping reagents in MENA, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with an 11% share.
In Saudi Arabia, blood-grouping reagents imports contracted by an average annual rate of -9.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kuwait (+20.3% per year) and Turkey (-6.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 8.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a perceptible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 46%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
