Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +34.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-2.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+21 p.p.) and Morocco (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-7.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest wooden joinery and carpentry supplier in MENA, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 3.9% share of total exports.
In Turkey, wooden joinery and carpentry exports expanded at an average annual rate of +13.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+0.7% per year) and Morocco (+31.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Imports of Builders' Joinery And Carpentry Of Wood
Imports in MENA
After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of builders' joinery and carpentry of wood increased by 42% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Iraq (X tons), Israel (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Morocco (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Libya (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Palestine (X tons), Qatar (X tons) and Algeria (X tons) represented the major importer of builders' joinery and carpentry of wood in MENA, committing 87% of total import.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Libya (with a CAGR of +14.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wooden joinery and carpentry importing markets in MENA were Israel ($X), Iraq ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 38% share of total imports. The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Palestine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+3.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
