In value terms, non-electric chainsaw exports expanded to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -9.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 91%. In 2022, Turkey (X units) was the key exporter of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor, generating 74% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), comprising a 21% share of total exports. Iran (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Iran (+29.4%) and the United Arab Emirates (+11.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iran emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +29.4% from 2012-2022. Imports in MENA

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor decreased by -40.4% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 109% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.

Imports by Country

Turkey dominates imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 65% of total imports in 2022. The United Arab Emirates (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Iran (X units). All these countries together held near 15% share of total imports. The following importers - Algeria (X units), Yemen (X units), Israel (X units) and Qatar (X units) - together made up 12% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-electric chainsaw imports into Turkey stood at -7.6%. At the same time, Yemen (+35.2%), Qatar (+22.7%), Algeria (+8.0%) and Iran (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Yemen emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +35.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Israel (-1.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (-6.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Iran (+4 p.p.), Algeria (+3.2 p.p.), Yemen (+3.1 p.p.) and Qatar (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkey saw its share reduced by -13.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor in MENA, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Iran, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey stood at -9.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+1.0% per year) and Iran (+8.6% per year).
