Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 185% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Israel represented the main exporter of chlorides and chloride oxides of phosphorus and halides and halide-oxides of non-metals in MENA, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 73% of total exports in 2021. Imports of chlorides and chloride oxides of phosphorus and halides and halide-oxides of non-metals soared to X tons in 2021, rising by 27% against 2020 figures. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +52.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, the largest chlorides and phosphorus oxychloride and halides importing markets in MENA were Israel ($X), Turkey ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), together accounting for 67% of total imports.
