Computing Machinery Market Size in MENA

For the fourth year in a row, the MENA's computing machinery market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 53% to $X in 2021. The total consumption indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +67.6% against 2017 indices. As a result, consumption attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, computing machinery production soared to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 148% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in MENA

In 2021, shipments abroad of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof increased by 2.9% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 30%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, computing machinery exports surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 44% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tons) and Turkey (X tons), together mixing up a 41% share of total exports. Morocco (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +32.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest computing machinery supplying countries in MENA were Israel ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 89% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Morocco and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.2%.

Among the main exporting countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +20.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 14% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+13.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Computing machinery imports surged to X tons in 2021, increasing by 41% on 2020. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, computing machinery imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +75.3% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Israel (X tons) represented the largest importers of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof, together constituting 75% of total imports. Morocco (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Iran (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +6.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest computing machinery importing markets in MENA were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Israel ($X), together comprising 70% of total imports.

Turkey, with a CAGR of +9.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, computing machinery import price increased by +98.4% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 53%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
