In 2021, the MENA's copper powder market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Turkey (X tons) and Israel (X tons) dominates exports structure, together constituting 84% of total exports. Tunisia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 5.8% share, followed by Saudi Arabia (5.7%). The following exporters - Egypt (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) - each finished at a 3.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +16.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Israel ($X), Turkey ($X) and Tunisia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 95% of total exports. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +13.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+8.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of copper powders and flakes increased by 2.5% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, copper powder imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +64.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, Turkey (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the key importer of copper powders and flakes in MENA, comprising 72% of total import. Egypt (X tons) held a 5.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Iran (4.8%) and Libya (4.6%). Morocco (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +37.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 31% against the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 292%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Libya ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+69.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
