Desktop Computer Market Size in MENA

The MENA's desktop computer market reached $X in 2021, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption saw a perceptible downturn. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Desktop Computer Production in MENA

In value terms, desktop computer production contracted slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the production volume increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in MENA

In 2021, shipments abroad of desktop computers was finally on the rise to reach X units after three years of decline. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, desktop computer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates prevails in exports structure, accounting for X units, which was near 82% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), generating a 7.7% share of total exports. Israel (X units), Kuwait (X units) and Tunisia (X units) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to desktop computer exports from the United Arab Emirates stood at +5.8%. At the same time, Kuwait (+36.8%), Israel (+5.5%) and Tunisia (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +36.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkey (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+32 p.p.) and Kuwait (+2.7 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest desktop computer supplier in MENA, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 6.2% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, desktop computer exports increased at an average annual rate of +12.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+22.1% per year) and Turkey (-2.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -30.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Kuwait ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+15.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Desktop Computer Imports

Imports in MENA

In 2021, approx. X units of desktop computers were imported in MENA; leveling off at 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 40%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, desktop computer imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units), distantly followed by Qatar (X units), Morocco (X units), Turkey (X units), Israel (X units), Egypt (X units) and Saudi Arabia (X units) were the major importers of desktop computers, together committing 83% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +25.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported desktop computers in MENA, comprising 33% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Morocco, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (-2.6% per year) and Morocco (+1.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, surging by 11% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 49%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while Qatar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
