In 2021, purchases abroad of metal windows and doors increased by 25% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, metal window and door imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 61%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Iraq (X tons), followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Libya (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Oman (X tons) represented the major importers of metal windows and doors, together making up 79% of total imports. The following importers - Israel (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons) - together made up 9.8% of total imports.

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 2.4% against the previous year. Import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, metal window and door import price increased by +30.2% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
