In value terms, wood drilling machine exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, Turkey (X units) was the largest exporter of drilling or morticing machines, mixing up 70% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), committing a 20% share of total exports. Bahrain (X units) and Egypt (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Egypt (+52.8%) and Bahrain (+10.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +52.8% from 2012-2021. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Turkey (+21 p.p.), Bahrain (+1.7 p.p.) and Egypt (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -5.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest wood drilling machine supplier in MENA, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 6.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 2.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey totaled +4.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+6.0% per year) and Egypt (+46.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 9.3% against the previous year. Export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, wood drilling machine export price decreased by -22.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 55%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per unit), while Bahrain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of drilling or morticing machines increased by 41% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 106%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wood drilling machine imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Qatar was the main importer of drilling or morticing machines in MENA, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was near 43% of total imports in 2021. Turkey (X units) took a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Iraq (6.5%), Israel (6.1%), Palestine (5.5%) and Algeria (4.5%). The United Arab Emirates (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wood drilling machine imports into Qatar stood at -14.0%. At the same time, Palestine (+70.4%), Turkey (+34.6%), Iraq (+18.7%), Israel (+9.5%) and the United Arab Emirates (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Palestine emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +70.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Algeria (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey, Iraq, Palestine, Israel and the United Arab Emirates increased by +20, +5.8, +5.5, +4.7 and +2.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Algeria ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with an 8.3% share.

In Turkey, wood drilling machine imports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Algeria (-1.6% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-0.9% per year).

The import price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 197%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
