In 2022, supplies from abroad of electricity supply or production meters was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electricity supply meter imports fell to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of electricity supply or production meters, namely the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Iran, represented more than half of total import. Israel (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Syrian Arab Republic (X units) and Oman (X units). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports. Yemen (X units), Jordan (X units), Bahrain (X units), Egypt (X units), Turkey (X units), Morocco (X units) and Qatar (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
