The MENA's electronic chip market declined to $X in 2021, waning by -13.6% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electronic chip production shrank significantly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +23.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 46%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Exports in MENA
In 2021, overseas shipments of electronic chips increased by 37% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after four years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electronic chip exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +76.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Morocco (X units) and Israel (X units) were the major exporters of electronic chips in 2021, amounting to near 41% and 33% of total exports, respectively. Turkey (X units) held an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Tunisia (7.1%) and the United Arab Emirates (6.2%).
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Morocco (with a CAGR of +32.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest electronic chip supplier in MENA, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Morocco ($X), with a 5.5% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 3.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Israel stood at +2.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Morocco (+6.2% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+2.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -4.3% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Turkey (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+29.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
In 2021, after five years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of electronic chips, when their volume increased by 12% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 24%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, electronic chip imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +65.0% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X units) and Israel (X units) were the largest importers of electronic chips in MENA, together amounting to approx. 66% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Tunisia (X units) and Morocco (X units). All these countries together took approx. 24% share of total imports. The following importers - Iran (X units) and Palestine (X units) - together made up 5.9% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Palestine (with a CAGR of +40.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Israel ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electronic chips in MENA, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Israel amounted to -2.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+4.8% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+10.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 41% against the previous year. Import price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, electronic chip import price increased by +76.8% against 2018 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Palestine (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
