In value terms, eye make-up preparations exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 29%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Turkey represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 79% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), generating a 15% share of total exports. Oman (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to eye make-up preparations exports from Turkey stood at +4.4%. At the same time, Oman (+30.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +30.6% from 2012-2022. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey stood at +7.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+8.9% per year) and Oman (+24.9% per year).

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Export price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, eye make-up preparations export price decreased by -16.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. Imports in MENA
In 2022, the amount of eye make-up preparations imported in MENA declined significantly to X tons, falling by -22.8% on 2021. Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -31.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 41%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, eye make-up preparations imports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by +1.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the major importers of eye make-up preparations in MENA, together amounting to near 60% of total imports. Iraq (X tons) took a 6.5% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Algeria (5%), Kuwait (4.8%) and Oman (4.7%). Morocco (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Algeria (with a CAGR of +20.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest eye make-up preparations importing markets in MENA were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Kuwait ($X), with a combined 69% share of total imports. Iraq, Morocco, Oman and Algeria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Algeria, with a CAGR of +15.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 5.1% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 6.7%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Algeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
