Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +85.6% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 49% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Turkey represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 54% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Iran (X tons), together making up a 35% share of total exports. The following exporters - Morocco (X tons), Tunisia (X tons) and Israel (X tons) - each amounted to an 8.2% share of total exports.
Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Morocco (+47.8%), Israel (+13.1%), Tunisia (+7.8%) and Iran (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +47.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-1.5%) and Saudi Arabia (-1.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+6.5 p.p.), Iran (+3.4 p.p.), Morocco (+2.9 p.p.) and Israel (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Saudi Arabia (-3.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest flexible tubes, pipes and hoses of plastics, without fittings supplier in MENA, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 9.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Turkey totaled +2.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Saudi Arabia (+5.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+4.8% per year).

The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 19%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, leveling off in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+7.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last decade. Libya (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), Tunisia ($X) and Israel ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 66% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Tunisia, with a CAGR of +16.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 14%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Libya ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
