Exports by Country
Morocco represented the largest exporter of flours, meals and pellets of fish or of crustaceans and molluscs in MENA, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 76% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Oman (X tons), constituting an 18% share of total exports. Turkey (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Morocco increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Oman (+57.6%), Turkey (+24.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (+8.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +57.6% from 2012-2021. While the share of Oman (+18 p.p.) and Turkey (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Morocco (-17.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Morocco ($X) remains the largest seafood meals and pellets supplier in MENA, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 3.4% share.
In Morocco, seafood meals and pellets exports increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Oman (+65.2% per year) and Turkey (+24.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 13% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Turkey ($X per ton) and Oman ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) and Morocco ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

Imports in MENA
In 2021, seafood meals and pellets imports in MENA surged to X tons, rising by 56% compared with 2020 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
