In value terms, grape juice (single strength) production expanded modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 95% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2021, production growth failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, exports of grape juice (single strength) in MENA shrank significantly to X tons, declining by -45.5% against 2020 figures. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 116%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, grape juice (single strength) exports fell rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 178% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then plummeted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Turkey was the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which resulted at 55% of total exports. Egypt (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Palestine (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 40% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to grape juice (single strength) exports from Turkey stood at -2.7%. At the same time, Egypt (+40.0%) and Palestine (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +40.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-1.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Egypt (+21 p.p.) and Palestine (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-2 p.p.) and Turkey (-18.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) emerged as the largest grape juice (single strength) supplier in MENA, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Palestine, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey amounted to -3.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Egypt (+35.5% per year) and Palestine (+1.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -15.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Palestine ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (-0.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
Imports of Grape Juice (Single Strength)
Imports in MENA
In 2021, purchases abroad of grape juice (single strength) increased by 12% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, imports saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 184% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, grape juice (single strength) imports rose markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 197% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
Israel represented the main importer of grape juice (single strength) in MENA, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 56% of total imports in 2021. Libya (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Qatar (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 39% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to grape juice (single strength) imports into Israel stood at +13.8%. At the same time, Qatar (+62.9%), Saudi Arabia (+9.9%) and Libya (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +62.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-3.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Israel (+17 p.p.) and Qatar (+6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the United Arab Emirates and Libya saw its share reduced by -3.4% and -9.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Israel ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported grape juice (single strength) in MENA, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Libya, with a 15% share.
In Israel, grape juice (single strength) imports increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (+14.1% per year) and Libya (+2.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -1.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Israel ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
