By contrast, Iran (-3.8%) and Saudi Arabia (-6.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+13 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (+6.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iran saw its share reduced by -3.1%, -5.5% and -5.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported graphic paper with mechanical fibre content under 10% and of weight X-150 g/m2 in rolls in MENA, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Algeria ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 9.8% share.
