Turkey represented the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to 40% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) took an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Iran (15%), Lebanon (7.8%) and Tunisia (5.7%). The following importers - Syrian Arab Republic (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) - together made up 6.8% of total imports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the graphic paper with mechanical fibre content under 10% and of weight under X g/m² imports, with a CAGR of +24.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tunisia (+12.9%) and Iran (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-5.6%), Lebanon (-8.7%), Syrian Arab Republic (-10.5%) and Egypt (-14.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey, Iran and Tunisia increased by +37, +7.4 and +4.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported graphic paper with mechanical fibre content under 10% and of weight under X g/m² in MENA, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Iran ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 13% share.
