Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. Morocco was also the fastest-growing in terms of the green beans exports, with a CAGR of +4.0% from 2012 to 2022. Egypt (-5.6%) and Oman (-9.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Morocco (+18 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Oman (-3.7 p.p.) and Egypt (-9.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Morocco ($X) remains the largest green bean supplier in MENA, comprising 86% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.

In Morocco, green bean exports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Egypt (-4.7% per year) and Oman (-9.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 9.2% against the previous year. Export price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 23% against the previous year. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, green bean imports stood at $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 25%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of green bean imports in 2022 were Qatar (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons), together accounting for 78% of total import. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X tons), making up a 5% share of total imports. The following importers - Oman (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) - together made up 7.1% of total imports.
