Imines Production in MENA

In value terms, imines production skyrocketed to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a prominent increase. Exports in MENA

In 2021, exports of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof in MENA soared to X tons, with an increase of 90% against the previous year. In general, exports recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 378%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imines exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 279% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Turkey was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 69% of total exports. Israel (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Egypt (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 31% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to imines exports from Turkey stood at +20.2%. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+39.8%), Egypt (+34.9%) and Israel (+10.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +39.8% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey increased by +6.9, +6.8 and +2.4 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest imines supplier in MENA, comprising 78% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 7.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 7.6% share.

In Turkey, imines exports expanded at an average annual rate of +20.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Israel (+12.9% per year) and Egypt (+30.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 8.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 217% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imines Imports

Imports in MENA

Imines imports soared to X tons in 2021, rising by 46% compared with 2020. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 53%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imines imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a resilient increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Turkey represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which resulted at 31% of total imports. Algeria (X tons) held a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Saudi Arabia (13%), Iran (11%), Israel (5.1%), Egypt (5.1%) and the United Arab Emirates (4.5%).

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Algeria (with a CAGR of +31.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Iran ($X), Algeria ($X) and Turkey ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 64% share of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Algeria, with a CAGR of +39.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, surging by 34% against the previous year. Import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imines import price increased by +40.0% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
