In 2022, Israel (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the largest exporters of instruments used in medical sciences in MENA, together reaching near 73% of total exports. Tunisia (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Egypt (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 21% share of total exports. The following exporters - the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - together made up 5.1% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Oman (with a CAGR of +47.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest medical instruments supplier in MENA, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Tunisia, with an 8.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Israel stood at +9.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+17.2% per year) and Tunisia (+10.9% per year).

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, surging by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild shrinkage. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+4.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, medical instruments imports in MENA expanded modestly to X tons, growing by 3.5% compared with 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 26%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, medical instruments imports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Turkey (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) represented the major importer of instruments used in medical sciences in MENA, achieving 57% of total import. Israel (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by the United Arab Emirates (6.9%) and Tunisia (5.1%). Oman (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), Turkey ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 45% share of total imports. Israel, Tunisia, Oman and Yemen lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.
Among the main importing countries, Israel, with a CAGR of +7.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -5.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 5.9%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
