The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 162%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Turkey dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 93% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), committing a 6.5% share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the invalid carriages motorised or mechanically propelled exports, with a CAGR of +25.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+22.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Turkey (+26 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021.

Among the main exporting countries, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +28.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -31.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 96%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Turkey totaled $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+5.0%).

In 2021, imports of invalid carriages motorised or mechanically propelled in MENA shrank markedly to X units, which is down by -34.3% compared with 2020 figures. In general, imports showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 101% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, motorised invalid carriage imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X units) represented the main importer of invalid carriages motorised or mechanically propelled, generating 44% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Iraq (X units), together comprising a 38% share of total imports. Israel (X units), Syrian Arab Republic (X units) and Algeria (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Syrian Arab Republic (with a CAGR of +53.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest motorised invalid carriage importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Israel ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Iraq and Syrian Arab Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

Syrian Arab Republic, with a CAGR of +22.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 115% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw resilient growth. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Syrian Arab Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Algeria (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
