Israel, with a CAGR of +7.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the export price increased by 14% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Oman (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Israel (X tons), Kuwait (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Saudi Arabia increased at an average annual rate of +16.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Iraq (+17.0%), Jordan (+11.2%), Qatar (+10.1%), Israel (+6.4%), Kuwait (+4.5%), Tunisia (+2.4%) and Oman (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +17.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-1.9%), Turkey (-2.0%), Iran (-2.1%), Morocco (-3.4%) and Egypt (-10.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan and Qatar increased by +17, +5, +3.9 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest paper label importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), Jordan ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), together comprising 42% of total imports. These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Morocco, Israel, Iraq, Egypt, Iran, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar, which together accounted for a further 51%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Iraq, with a CAGR of +16.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -2.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
