Turkey dominates exports structure, recording X units, which was near 95% of total exports in 2021. Oman (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis exports, with a CAGR of +23.4% from 2012 to 2021. Oman (-23.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+73 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Oman saw its share reduced by -29.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest electroplating machine supplier in MENA, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 30% share of total exports.

In Turkey, electroplating machine exports increased at an average annual rate of +25.3% over the period from 2012-2021.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 104%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per unit), while Turkey stood at $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+35.6%).

In 2021, purchases abroad of machines for electroplating, electrolysis or electrophoresis increased by 137% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 142% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electroplating machine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 48%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Turkey prevails in imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 82% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Israel (X units), making up a 5.6% share of total imports. Algeria (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Iran (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to electroplating machine imports into Turkey stood at +10.2%. At the same time, Algeria (+31.3%) and Israel (+25.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +31.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Iran (-11.6%) and the United Arab Emirates (-24.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey stood at +5.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-8.1% per year) and Israel (+30.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 89%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+21.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
