Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the largest exporter of man-made filament yarn, achieving 69% of total exports. Egypt (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 14% share, followed by the United Arab Emirates (8.6%). The following exporters - Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - together made up 4.4% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to man-made filament yarn exports from Turkey stood at -17.5%. At the same time, Egypt (+9.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +9.6% from 2012-2021. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Jordan (-13.0%) and Saudi Arabia (-23.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates increased by +13 and +6.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest man-made filament yarn supplier in MENA, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 4.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey amounted to -16.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Egypt (+9.5% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-1.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 30% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of man-made filament yarn were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 43%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, man-made filament yarn imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Turkey represented the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 57% of total imports. Egypt (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Jordan (X tons) and Morocco (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 30% share of total imports. Tunisia (X tons) and Iran (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to man-made filament yarn imports into Turkey stood at +5.5%. At the same time, Morocco (+10.0%), the United Arab Emirates (+5.2%) and Tunisia (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +10.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Jordan (-3.2%), Iran (-9.5%) and Egypt (-12.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+28 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+3.9 p.p.) and Morocco (+3.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Iran (-2.5 p.p.) and Egypt (-17.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported man-made filament yarn in MENA, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 7.9% share.
In Turkey, man-made filament yarn imports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (-14.3% per year) and Jordan (+4.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 1.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
