In value terms, mineral or aerated water exports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 42%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) represented roughly 65% of total exports in 2022. Oman (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by Lebanon (7.2%). Palestine (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +21.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Palestine ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 68% of total exports. Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +23.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Palestine ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
In 2022, purchases abroad of mineral or aerated waters increased by 3.8% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mineral or aerated water imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 36%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Oman (X tons) represented the main importer of mineral or aerated waters in MENA, creating 62% of total import. Saudi Arabia (X tons) took an 8.7% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kuwait (6.6%), Morocco (5.1%) and Palestine (5%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Morocco (with a CAGR of +32.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest mineral or aerated water importing markets in MENA were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), together comprising 61% of total imports. These countries were followed by Kuwait, Oman, Palestine and Morocco, which together accounted for a further 24%.
Morocco, with a CAGR of +23.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -5.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+2.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
