Tunisia was the main exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at 44% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 25% share, followed by Israel (21%) and Turkey (8.4%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Tunisia (with a CAGR of +46.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest network communications equipment supplier in MENA, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tunisia ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 13% share.
In Israel, network communications equipment exports shrank by an average annual rate of -8.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tunisia (+60.1% per year) and Turkey (+6.6% per year).

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced decline. In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of network communications equipment, when their volume decreased by -21.4% to X units. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, network communications equipment imports contracted dramatically to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 86%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then plummeted in the following year.

Turkey (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) represented roughly 69% of total imports in 2022. Israel (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Egypt (X units). All these countries together held approx. 16% share of total imports. Iran (X units), Jordan (X units) and Qatar (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +20.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Israel ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 76% of total imports.
Turkey, with a CAGR of +10.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, waning by -7.4% against the previous year. Import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, network communications equipment import price increased by +75.5% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Egypt ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
