The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 20%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings were finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2013, thus ending a seven-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-electrical lamp imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X units) and Israel (X units) were the major importers of non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings in 2021, reaching approx. 24% and 23% of total imports, respectively. Kuwait (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Iraq (X units), Turkey (X units), Oman (X units) and Libya (X units). All these countries together took near 37% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +7.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Kuwait ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 49% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Turkey, Iraq, Oman and Libya, which together accounted for a further 22%.

Iraq, with a CAGR of +12.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, rising by 18% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 25%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
