In 2022, the MENA's non-household fan market decreased by -23.1% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2021, and then contracted notably in the following year.

Non-Household Fan Production in MENA

In value terms, non-household fan production dropped sharply to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Non-household fan exports shrank remarkably to X units in 2022, reducing by -30.1% against 2021 figures. Total exports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 40%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.

In value terms, non-household fan exports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Turkey (X units) represented the main exporter of non-household ventilation fans, achieving 78% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), mixing up a 12% share of total exports. The following exporters - Tunisia (X units), Iran (X units) and Israel (X units) - together made up 7.4% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-household fan exports from Turkey stood at +3.4%. At the same time, Iran (+13.8%), the United Arab Emirates (+7.6%) and Israel (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iran emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +13.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tunisia (-11.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Iran increased by +11, +5.2 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Tunisia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 93% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +17.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 6.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 54% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Iran ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tunisia (+14.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of non-household ventilation fans decreased by -44.9% to X units in 2022. Total imports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 22%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

In value terms, non-household fan imports contracted notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then fell sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Turkey (X units) was the main importer of non-household ventilation fans, mixing up 61% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Iran (X units) and Egypt (X units). All these countries together held near 23% share of total imports. Israel (X units), Saudi Arabia (X units), Iraq (X units) and Algeria (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of non-household ventilation fans. At the same time, Iraq (+13.1%), the United Arab Emirates (+8.5%), Algeria (+7.1%), Israel (+3.9%), Iran (+2.4%) and Egypt (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +13.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-5.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (+5.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkey and Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -1.9% and -2.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 58% share of total imports. Israel, Egypt, Iran, Iraq and Algeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Among the main importing countries, Algeria, with a CAGR of +7.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
