In value terms, oriented strandboard (OSB) production stood at $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production continues to indicate a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in MENA
In 2021, shipments abroad of oriented strandboard (OSB) was finally on the rise to reach X cubic meters after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 168%. The volume of export peaked at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, oriented strandboard (OSB) exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Turkey prevails in exports structure, amounting to X cubic meters, which was near 86% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Iran (X cubic meters), making up a 5.3% share of total exports. The following exporters - Israel (X cubic meters) and the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) - together made up 6.7% of total exports.
Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of oriented strandboard (OSB). At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+55.4%), Iran (+26.4%) and Israel (+21.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +55.4% from 2012-2021. While the share of Turkey (+15 p.p.), Iran (+4.8 p.p.), Israel (+3.4 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest oriented strandboard (OSB) supplier in MENA, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 4.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Iran, with a 2.2% share.
In Turkey, oriented strandboard (OSB) exports increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Israel (+24.3% per year) and Iran (+15.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per cubic meter, increasing by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per cubic meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per cubic meter), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+2.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA
For the fourth consecutive year, MENA recorded decline in purchases abroad of oriented strandboard (OSB), which decreased by -22% to X cubic meters in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, oriented strandboard (OSB) imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Turkey was the main importer of oriented strandboard (OSB) in MENA, with the volume of imports accounting for X cubic meters, which was near 66% of total imports in 2021. Israel (X cubic meters) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Iraq (X cubic meters). All these countries together held approx. 21% share of total imports. Algeria (X cubic meters), the United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters) and Morocco (X cubic meters) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to oriented strandboard (OSB) imports into Turkey stood at -10.5%. At the same time, Algeria (+31.2%), Morocco (+13.2%), Iraq (+11.9%) and Israel (+8.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +31.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Israel, Iraq, Algeria and Morocco increased by +12, +4.4, +3.6 and +2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported oriented strandboard (OSB) in MENA, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Iraq, with a 5.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey stood at -9.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Israel (+8.6% per year) and Iraq (+14.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per cubic meter in 2021, increasing by 48% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The level of import peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Morocco ($X per cubic meter) and Iraq ($X per cubic meter), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per cubic meter) and Israel ($X per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+9.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
