In general, exports showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 1,063% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aromatic monoamines exports shrank significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 241%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The shipments of the four major exporters of other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof, namely Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +19.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest aromatic monoamines supplying countries in MENA were Turkey ($X), Israel ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 94% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Turkey, with a CAGR of +16.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -8.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a resilient increase. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Aromatic monoamines imports expanded remarkably to X tons in 2021, increasing by 7.6% against 2020. In general, imports, however, saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aromatic monoamines imports rose markedly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Turkey (X tons) was the largest importer of other aromatic monoamines and their derivatives, salts thereof, constituting 46% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tons), Iran (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together comprising a 48% share of total imports. Egypt (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
