Other Chemical Products Market Size in MENA

The MENA's other chemical products market rose to $X in 2022, with an increase of 2.7% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. In 2022, shipments abroad of other chemical products was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, faced a sharp downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 66% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, other chemical products exports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a sharp decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Israel represented the key exporter of other chemical products in MENA, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 44% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons), together generating a 47% share of total exports. The following exporters - Egypt (X tons) and Libya (X tons) - together made up 5.7% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Libya (with a CAGR of +26.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest other chemical products supplying countries in MENA were Israel ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), together accounting for 88% of total exports. Egypt, Kuwait and Libya lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.2%.

Libya, with a CAGR of +25.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 78%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Libya ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+29.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of other chemical products was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, other chemical products imports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of other chemical products imports in 2022 were Saudi Arabia (X tons), Oman (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Lebanon (X tons), Israel (X tons), Algeria (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Iran (X tons), Jordan (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons), together amounting to 94% of total import.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Lebanon (with a CAGR of +12.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest other chemical products importing markets in MENA were Saudi Arabia ($X), Israel ($X) and Iraq ($X), together comprising 54% of total imports.

Iraq, with a CAGR of +11.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 18%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
