Exports by Country
In 2021, Israel (X tons) represented the key exporter of parachutes and rotochutes, mixing up 57% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), mixing up a 35% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X kg) and Saudi Arabia (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +38.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest parachute supplier in MENA, comprising 78% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Israel totaled +8.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+29.2% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+49.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -14.4% against the previous year. Export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, parachute export price decreased by -18.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 64% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in MENA
Parachute imports surged to X tons in 2021, increasing by 51% against the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, parachute imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 109%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates was the main importer of parachutes and rotochutes in MENA, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 31% of total imports in 2021. Morocco (X tons) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkey (12%), Israel (9.1%), Egypt (9%), Algeria (6.8%) and Iraq (6.2%). Iran (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Iraq (+42.9%) and Israel (+9.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +42.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkey (-4.2%), Iran (-6.0%), Algeria (-8.1%), Morocco (-11.1%) and Egypt (-13.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (+25 p.p.), Israel (+7 p.p.), Iraq (+6.1 p.p.) and Turkey (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Morocco and Egypt saw its share reduced by -7.9% and -9.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported parachutes and rotochutes in MENA, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at +15.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Israel (+15.0% per year) and Turkey (+1.2% per year).

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -14.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%.
