The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 24%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in MENA

Percussion musical instrument exports fell rapidly to X units in 2022, which is down by -37.1% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 139% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced notably in the following year.

In value terms, percussion musical instrument exports stood at $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +41.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Turkey dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 84% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Israel (X units), comprising a 7.3% share of total exports. The following exporters - Egypt (X units) and Iran (X units) - together made up 5.9% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to percussion musical instrument exports from Turkey stood at -4.4%. At the same time, Iran (+13.8%) and Israel (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iran emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +13.8% from 2012-2022. Egypt experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Israel increased by +4.4 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest percussion musical instrument supplier in MENA, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 7.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Iran, with a 1.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey amounted to +4.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Israel (+21.0% per year) and Iran (+27.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, growing by 71% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a strong expansion. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Egypt ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+15.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA

Percussion musical instrument imports totaled X units in 2022, picking up by 2.2% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, percussion musical instrument imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Israel (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) dominates imports structure, together constituting 74% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), comprising a 9% share of total imports. Iraq (X units), Algeria (X units), Morocco (X units), Bahrain (X units) and Kuwait (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Iraq (with a CAGR of +12.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Israel ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 78% share of total imports. Algeria, Morocco, Iraq, Bahrain and Kuwait lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Algeria, with a CAGR of +8.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -2.9% against the previous year. Import price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, percussion musical instrument import price decreased by -25.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 26%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per unit), while Bahrain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
