In 2021, the MENA's plastic lavatory seat market decreased by -19.8% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after six years of growth. Plastic lavatory seat exports soared to X units in 2021, growing by 18% against the previous year. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +81.4% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic lavatory seat exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +74.7% against 2016 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Turkey prevails in exports structure, reaching X units, which was near 89% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), committing a 5.1% share of total exports. The following exporters - Tunisia (X units) and Jordan (X units) - each resulted at a 4.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic lavatory seat exports from Turkey stood at +9.6%. At the same time, Jordan (+36.5%) and Tunisia (+19.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Jordan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +36.5% from 2012-2021. The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey and Jordan increased by +12 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest plastic lavatory seat supplier in MENA, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 3.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Tunisia, with a 1.9% share.

In Turkey, plastic lavatory seat exports increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+4.7% per year) and Tunisia (+18.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 10% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Turkey ($X per unit) and Tunisia ($X per unit), while Jordan ($X per unit) and the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of plastic lavatory seats and covers increased by 33% to X units in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic lavatory seat imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X units), Morocco (X units) and Israel (X units) represented roughly 52% of total imports in 2021. Egypt (X units) held a 9.2% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkey (5.5%), Algeria (5.5%), Libya (5.5%) and Iraq (5%). Kuwait (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +13.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plastic lavatory seat importing markets in MENA were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Morocco ($X), together accounting for 48% of total imports. Egypt, Turkey, Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait and Libya lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

Egypt, with a CAGR of +14.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, surging by 2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while Libya ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
