In 2021, the MENA's lamp plastic parts market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lamp plastic parts production rose to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 20%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in MENA
After two years of growth, overseas shipments of plastic parts for lamps and lighting fittings decreased by -39% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 141%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, lamp plastic parts exports dropped notably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 149% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Turkey represented the main exporter of plastic parts for lamps and lighting fittings in MENA, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 81% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), achieving a 10% share of total exports. The following exporters - Egypt (X tons) and Morocco (X tons) - together made up 5.7% of total exports.
Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +13.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Egypt (+51.1%), Morocco (+17.1%) and the United Arab Emirates (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +51.1% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey and Egypt increased by +20 and +3.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) emerged as the largest lamp plastic parts supplier in MENA, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 2.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 1.7% share.
In Turkey, lamp plastic parts exports expanded at an average annual rate of +15.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-2.3% per year) and Egypt (+48.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 36% against the previous year. Export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, lamp plastic parts export price increased by +82.2% against 2013 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+1.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in MENA
In 2021, imports of plastic parts for lamps and lighting fittings in MENA skyrocketed to X tons, jumping by 75% on 2020 figures. Overall, imports recorded resilient growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, lamp plastic parts imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +110.6% against 2014 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Turkey (X tons) represented the largest importer of plastic parts for lamps and lighting fittings, creating 55% of total imports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Iran (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons). All these countries together held near 30% share of total imports. The following importers - Iraq (X tons), Algeria (X tons) and Tunisia (X tons) - together made up 7.4% of total imports.
Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the plastic parts for lamps and lighting fittings imports, with a CAGR of +31.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Algeria (+14.4%), Saudi Arabia (+9.5%), Iran (+6.6%) and Tunisia (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Iraq (-4.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+44 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Tunisia (-1.7 p.p.), Iran (-3.4 p.p.), Iraq (-9.2 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-18.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest lamp plastic parts importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), Iran ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Algeria and Tunisia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
Algeria, with a CAGR of +28.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -17.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 22%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
