The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of plastics bidets, lavatory pans and flushing cisterns skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +36.8% against 2018 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Turkey dominates cisterns structure, resulting at X units, which was near 89% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), mixing up a 6.7% share of total exports. Tunisia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the plastics bidets, lavatory pans and flushing cisterns exports, with a CAGR of +10.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Tunisia (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-5.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+29 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-12 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest plastics bidets, lavatory pans and flushing cisterns supplier in MENA, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tunisia ($X), with a 5.8% share of total exports.

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 9.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+0.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of plastics bidets, lavatory pans and flushing cisterns, when their volume increased by 50% to X units. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units), distantly followed by Israel (X units), Iraq (X units), Turkey (X units), Algeria (X units), Libya (X units), Morocco (X units), Qatar (X units) and Yemen (X units) represented the largest importers of plastics bidets, lavatory pans and flushing cisterns, together creating 80% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of +39.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Turkey ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 37% of total imports. Iraq, Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Qatar and Yemen lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.

Qatar, with a CAGR of +16.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, rising by 1.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 14%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Yemen ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
