In 2021, Turkey (X tons) represented the key exporter of polyamides (in primary forms), generating 86% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tons), creating a 10% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the polyamides (in primary forms) exports, with a CAGR of +30.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+9.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Israel (-8.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest polyamide supplier in MENA, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey stood at +31.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (-8.0% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+10.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 25% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of polyamides (in primary forms) increased by 105% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports saw resilient growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, polyamide imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Turkey dominates imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 74% of total imports in 2021. Israel (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 6% share, followed by the United Arab Emirates (5.4%). Iran (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Tunisia (X tons) and Morocco (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to polyamide imports into Turkey stood at +15.2%. At the same time, Morocco (+21.4%), the United Arab Emirates (+14.7%), Israel (+6.0%), Tunisia (+4.6%) and Iran (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +21.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-1.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+17 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Tunisia (-2.4 p.p.), Iran (-3.7 p.p.), Israel (-3.8 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (-6.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported polyamides (in primary forms) in MENA, comprising 72% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 6.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 4.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey amounted to +14.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (+7.0% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+4.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, rising by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
