Room Deodorants Market Size in MENA

The MENA's room deodorants market contracted dramatically to $X in 2022, falling by -18.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, posted a resilient expansion. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, room deodorants production reduced to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 105%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in MENA

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms decreased by -19.3% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 24%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, room deodorants exports fell rapidly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Exports by Country

Turkey dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 84% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X tons), creating a 4.8% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms. At the same time, Egypt (+12.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +12.7% from 2012-2022. Saudi Arabia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-6.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Egypt (+3.3 p.p.) and Turkey (+3.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-4.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest room deodorants supplier in MENA, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 7.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 7.4% share.

In Turkey, room deodorants exports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (-3.5% per year) and Egypt (+20.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 4.8% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the export price increased by 9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+6.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA

In 2022, room deodorants imports in MENA contracted to X tons, with a decrease of -11.4% against 2021 figures. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, room deodorants imports fell to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main importers of preparations for perfuming or deodorising rooms in MENA, together achieving 53% of total imports. Iraq (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Kuwait (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Turkey (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 22% share of total imports. Israel (X tons), Libya (X tons), Yemen (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Iran (X tons), Bahrain (X tons) and Djibouti (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +7.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Kuwait ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 57% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Kuwait, with a CAGR of +13.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, waning by -2.6% against the previous year. Import price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, room deodorants import price increased by +71.0% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 34%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Djibouti ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
