Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 331% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric pulley tackle exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 181% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Turkey represented the main exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 48% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Lebanon (X units). All these countries together took approx. 37% share of total exports. Egypt (X units), Oman (X units), Bahrain (X units) and Morocco (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Egypt (with a CAGR of +45.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Oman ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 82% of total exports. Lebanon, Bahrain, Morocco and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 9.1%.

Egypt, with a CAGR of +49.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, approximately reflecting the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, non-electric pulley tackle export price decreased by -2.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 53% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per unit), while Egypt ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+14.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of pulley tackle and hoists, non-powered by electric motor decreased by -11.3% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -34.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-electric pulley tackle imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 35%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
