Exports in MENA
For the third consecutive year, MENA recorded growth in shipments abroad of pumps for dispensing liquids, which increased by 26% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, liquid dispensing pump exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 50%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units) represented the largest exporter of pumps for dispensing liquids, achieving 58% of total exports. Turkey (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 25% share, followed by Saudi Arabia (11%). The following exporters - Israel (X units) and Oman (X units) - together made up 5.2% of total exports.
Exports from the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +21.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+34.0%) and Oman (+21.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +34.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Turkey (-6.1%) and Israel (-9.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (+43 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (+9.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Israel and Turkey saw its share reduced by -8.2% and -38.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Turkey ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 91% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 8.1%.
Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +22.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, growing by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+30.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
In 2021, purchases abroad of pumps for dispensing liquids increased by 3.3% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 37%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, liquid dispensing pump imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Oman (X units), Saudi Arabia (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) represented the major importer of pumps for dispensing liquids in MENA, mixing up 72% of total import. It was distantly followed by Iraq (X units) and Lebanon (X units), together achieving an 11% share of total imports. Israel (X units) and Iran (X units) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +13.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported pumps for dispensing liquids in MENA, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Oman, with a 5.4% share.
In Saudi Arabia, liquid dispensing pump imports increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United Arab Emirates (+1.3% per year) and Oman (-3.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Import price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, liquid dispensing pump import price increased by +46.0% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 107% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while Lebanon ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
