Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a prominent expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Turkey prevails in coverings structure, amounting to X square meters, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X square meters), generating a 4.7% share of total exports. The following exporters - Tunisia (X square meters) and Israel (X square meters) - each reached a 3.5% share of total exports.

Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+41.6%), Tunisia (+14.0%) and the United Arab Emirates (+6.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Israel emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +41.6% from 2012-2022. While the share of Turkey (+11 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-2.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings supplier in MENA, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tunisia ($X), with a 5.9% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 4.8% share.

In Turkey, exports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings expanded at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Tunisia (+12.7% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+12.5% per year).

In 2022, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per square meter, picking up by 4.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 17% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per square meter), while Turkey ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings totaled X square meters in 2022, growing by 3% on 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +50.8% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 27%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings amounted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of imports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings in 2022 were the United Arab Emirates (X square meters), Saudi Arabia (X square meters), Iraq (X square meters) and Turkey (X square meters), together accounting for 63% of total import. Yemen (X square meters) held a 5.8% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Israel (5.3%). The following importers - Algeria (X square meters), Qatar (X square meters), Kuwait (X square meters), Libya (X square meters), Djibouti (X square meters), Iran (X square meters) and Morocco (X square meters) - together made up 21% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Qatar (with a CAGR of +21.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 49% of total imports. Iraq, Israel, Morocco, Algeria, Yemen, Qatar, Kuwait, Iran, Libya and Djibouti lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

Qatar, with a CAGR of +15.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per square meter, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 9.7%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2017 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per square meter), while Djibouti ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
