After two years of growth, the MENA's quinones market decreased by -7.3% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption showed a significant expansion. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Quinones Production in MENA

In value terms, quinones production fell slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +11.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest quinones supplier in MENA, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Jordan, with a 2.8% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, quinones exports increased at an average annual rate of +32.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (-34.5% per year) and Jordan (-9.4% per year).

The export price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -17.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 47% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Jordan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, approx. X tons of quinones were imported in MENA; increasing by 5.6% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 119% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, quinones imports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 283%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) dominates imports structure, together creating 80% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Jordan (X tons), committing a 7.7% share of total imports. Egypt (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Morocco (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported quinones in MENA, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 27% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 4.5% share.

In Saudi Arabia, quinones imports expanded at an average annual rate of +24.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+12.9% per year) and Egypt (+30.2% per year).
