Israel (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) prevails in exports structure, together creating 92% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X units), making up a 4.8% share of total exports. Oman (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Oman (with a CAGR of +4.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest radio receiver supplier in MENA, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 5.5% share.

In Israel, radio receiver exports contracted by an average annual rate of -17.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-9.6% per year) and Turkey (-0.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 52%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+15.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X units of radio receivers were imported in MENA; which is down by -15.7% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 26%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, radio receiver imports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the major importer of radio receivers in MENA, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was approx. 47% of total imports in 2022. Turkey (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 22% share, followed by Morocco (6.5%) and Iran (4.5%). Djibouti (X units), Iraq (X units), Yemen (X units), Algeria (X units), Israel (X units) and Libya (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates decreased at an average annual rate of -11.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Iraq (+13.8%) and Morocco (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in MENA, with a CAGR of +13.8% from 2012-2022. Algeria and Libya experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Yemen (-2.9%), Djibouti (-4.0%), Turkey (-5.2%), Iran (-8.5%) and Israel (-14.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Turkey (+7.3 p.p.), Morocco (+4.3 p.p.), Iraq (+3.4 p.p.) and Djibouti (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates (-15.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest radio receiver importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Morocco ($X), with a combined 72% share of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Morocco, with a CAGR of +18.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the import price increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per unit), while Libya ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
