In 2021, approx. X tons of reclaimed rubber were exported in MENA; jumping by 33% against 2020. In general, exports saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 185% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 71%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In 2021, Qatar (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) represented the key exporter of reclaimed rubber in MENA, constituting 65% of total export. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Oman (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Iran (X tons), together creating a 34% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +797.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest reclaimed rubber supplying countries in MENA were Saudi Arabia ($X), Egypt ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), together accounting for 58% of total exports. These countries were followed by Qatar, Oman, Turkey, Israel and Iran, which together accounted for a further 42%.

Qatar, with a CAGR of +143.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 18% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 35%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Qatar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Reclaimed Rubber Imports

Imports in MENA

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of reclaimed rubber increased by 36% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Turkey (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together committing 84% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Qatar (X tons), making up a 4.7% share of total imports. The following importers - Oman (X tons) and Algeria (X tons) - each resulted at a 4.2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +27.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest reclaimed rubber importing markets in MENA were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Turkey ($X) and Qatar ($X), together accounting for 87% of total imports. Oman and Algeria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.4%.

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 8.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
