Exports by Country
In 2022, Jordan (X tons) was the main exporter of recovered fibre pulp in MENA, comprising 99% of total export.
Jordan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the recovered fibre pulp exports, with a CAGR of +108.7% from 2012 to 2022. Jordan (+97 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Jordan ($X) also remains the largest recovered fibre pulp supplier in MENA.

Imports in MENA
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of recovered fibre pulp, when their volume decreased by -4.1% to X tons. In general, imports showed a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 66%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, recovered fibre pulp imports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates was the key importer of recovered fibre pulp in MENA, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 65% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Israel (X tons), committing a 28% share of total imports. Turkey (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the recovered fibre pulp imports, with a CAGR of +29.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Israel (+18.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the United Arab Emirates and Israel increased by +61 and +23 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest recovered fibre pulp importing markets in MENA were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 96% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +39.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 5.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 38% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
