The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, exports of sunflower-seed or safflower oil, refined, but not chemically modified surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine years. At the same time, Egypt (+5.8%) and Saudi Arabia (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Oman experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 79%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of sunflower-seed or safflower oil, refined, but not chemically modified soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last nine-year period. Djibouti, with a CAGR of +82.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 51% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Libya ($X per ton) and Jordan ($X per ton), while Yemen ($X per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+1.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
