In value terms, refrigerated show-cases exports soared to $X in 2022. Turkey prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 91% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), achieving a 7.3% share of total exports.

Turkey was also the fastest-growing in terms of the refrigerated show-caseses exports, with a CAGR of +5.4% from 2012 to 2022. The United Arab Emirates (-4.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Turkey increased by +12 percentage points.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest refrigerated show-cases supplier in MENA, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 5.3% share of total exports.

In 2022, the amount of refrigerated show-caseses imported in MENA reduced dramatically to X units, dropping by -23.7% compared with 2021 figures. Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -29.2% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, refrigerated show-cases imports fell notably to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 34%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined significantly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X units), Iraq (X units), Qatar (X units) and Israel (X units) was the major importer of refrigerated show-caseses in MENA, achieving 65% of total import. It was distantly followed by Morocco (X units), mixing up a 6.2% share of total imports. Egypt (X units), Kuwait (X units), Turkey (X units), Algeria (X units), Bahrain (X units), Libya (X units) and Oman (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +12.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Israel ($X) and Qatar ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 50% of total imports.

Israel, with a CAGR of +10.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in MENA stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+2.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
