In 2021, the MENA's non-reinforced rubber tubing market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. Exports in MENA
Non-reinforced rubber tubing exports expanded slightly to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 4.2% on the previous year. Total exports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -12.8% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 33%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-reinforced rubber tubing exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Turkey represented the key exporter of rubber tubing not reinforced in MENA, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 69% of total exports in 2021. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Iran (6.3%) and Egypt (4.7%).
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-reinforced rubber tubing exports from Turkey stood at +12.2%. At the same time, Egypt (+67.2%) and the United Arab Emirates (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of +67.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Iran (-3.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Turkey and Egypt increased by +28 and +4.6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest non-reinforced rubber tubing supplier in MENA, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey totaled +14.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+4.3% per year) and Egypt (+72.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, growing by 16% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+3.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in MENA
In 2021, supplies from abroad of rubber tubing not reinforced decreased by -36.8% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 37%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-reinforced rubber tubing imports shrank notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Egypt (X tons), Oman (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Iran (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Israel (X tons), Morocco (X tons), Algeria (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) was the main importer of rubber tubing not reinforced in MENA, generating 90% of total import.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-reinforced rubber tubing importing markets in MENA were Turkey ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Israel ($X), together accounting for 39% of total imports. Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, Oman, Morocco, Algeria, Qatar, Iran and Jordan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 53%.
Algeria, with a CAGR of +15.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 17% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the import price increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while Qatar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iraq (+8.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
